| EENGO
has achieved results that our clients report to have changed
their lives.
General
Overall, our projects have:
• Relieved isolation
and promoted social interaction for young people, children
and families.
• Developed culturally sensitive activities and services
for and with young people, e.g. youth groups, sporting and
other leisure activities; also promoted access for young people
to mainstream youth services and activities in all sectors.
• Provided culturally sensitive support
for young people to adjust to a new society and environments
and the establishment of family support.
• Promoted positive
role models for children and young people and their access
to employment, for example in teaching, youth work and youth
counselling.
• Involved women from
different ethnic groups and communities in all our activities
and given them the confidence to overcome barriers to their
integration, helped them to retain their cultural differences.
Currently planning for example to organise a football tournament
for Afghan and other women from all disadvantaged groups.
• Provided advice and information about training, education,
employment, housing, health, and social welfare issues to
hundreds of clients
• Advocated about legal
issues for our clients
• Referred clients to
specialised agencies
Individual
Through our evaluation of
activities, we learn about the personal impact they make on
the lives of our clients. For example through participation
to sport, young and adult people have reported that this activity
reduced their level of stress and they felt more healthier
after.
Those among people who come and are unemployed say to be using
their spare time usefully. The same way those who among participants
suffer from depression because of what they went through back
home and isolation here in the UK find it mentally relaxing
to take part in our sport activities.
In addition, physical activities that EENGO provides
keeps young people healthier and busy thereby contributing to
the prevention of their involvement in criminal activities and
in a sense make them better people. The counselling, guidance
and sport they receive help to build their confidence and inspire
hope for their future. |
